City Cruises York have announced a highly positive response to a customer survey carried out of passengers who have boarded their sailings since reopening in July 2020.

City Cruises asked their passengers how satisfied they were with the new hygiene and social distancing measures that have been implemented across their fleet.

The most notable findings from this visitor survey found that “93% of customers are satisfied or very satisfied with their City Cruises experience and that 99% would recommend us to friends and family!”

The most important factors for their visitors when deciding to visit were enhanced attraction cleaning, reduced visitor numbers, social distancing amongst visitors and staff wearing face masks.

Mark Mattinson, Sales and Marketing Manager for City Cruises York, said “Prior to reopening we implemented a series of enhanced hygiene measures and followed social distancing guidelines. The team have worked incredibly hard to continue to deliver memorable experiences on the River Ouse to our passengers, whilst adapting to new ways of working.”

He went on to say that their visitor numbers have been equally encouraging after a slow start in early July; “Despite operating at 50% of our previous capacity on board our cruises, we saw very consistent levels of demand for our sightseeing cruises throughout August and September, with the latter seeing our 4th highest number of passengers for September in the last 15 years.”

City Cruises York have welcomed 70,000 passengers since reopening on the 4th of July, with over 16,000 of those enjoying their own self drive motor boat experience.

Mark added that “We recognise that these are incredibly challenging times for York’s residents and businesses, and we hope that the results of our recent visitor survey demonstrate that with careful planning and a diligent approach to welcoming visitors, it is still possible for leisure and hospitality businesses to operate in a COVID-secure manner.”

City Cruises also operate cruises in London and Poole. Their cruises in York are scheduled to operate throughout the year, with their Santa Experience returning once more this year aboard their largest vessel to allow for more space for each household group of up to 6 people.
