We approached  guest blogger, Leyla who writes her blog, ThisdayIlove which captures the precious moments of being a mummy to her three kids…

We asked her whether she’d like to go on a day filled with Christmas and Chocolate experiences.

Here’s what she had to say about those festive frolics!

Chocolate and Christmas seem to go hand in hand, chocolate advent calendars, chocolate gifts and of course the big tin of chocolates on the table.  Every morning in December the girls wake up excited at the thought they can have a piece of chocolate before breakfast.  Imagine their excitement when they found out they were going to visit York’s Chocolate Story.

Our tour began with an introduction to the history of chocolate.  Surrounded by the twinkling of lights from the Christmas tree we were told a warm and festive tale of a young man and his family, the Rowntrees, journey into chocolate making.

The tour continued through a series of rooms, each one showing the progression and history of chocolate.

Perhaps the favourite part for the girls was sampling the chocolate from that moment in history.  From the very first chocolate bar to a spice infused cocoa drink, the girls loved trying each one.

The first part of the tour was tasting and listening with the second part much more interactive.

After helping to make the milk chocolate we all love, the girls got to make their very own chocolate lollies!

Full of chocolate the only way their day could get better was to visit Father Christmas.

Hiding in a wooden cabin just around the corner, and surrounded by friendly elves the girls found Father Christmas!

A perfect end to a perfect day!
