Start the New Year with a great day out at some of Yorkshire’s top attractions
With plenty of ideas for great days out in Yorkshire, along with discount vouchers, local events and lots more to get stuck into, 2018 is set to be a cracker of a year!
The New Year will see some of the attractions taking part in the sales with incredible discounts on offer. With City Cruises York, visitors to the historic city can get 50% off sightseeing cruise vouchers, with travel valid up until 23rd March. Other great discounts include 30% off dining cruises and self-drive red boats vouchers. Savvy shoppers can also take advantage of discounted gifts, memberships and experiences during the January Sales from Yorkshire Wildlife Park, the UK’s no.1 walkthrough wildlife adventure.
Also in January, there is the opportunity to join Bronte Parsonage Museum for their ‘Parsonage Wrapped’ sell-out event. Although the Museum is closed for their annual conservation and cleaning work, this event lets you take a peek behind the scenes with a unique tour from a member of their Curatorial Team. An experience not to be missed!
At The Hepworth Wakefield, there are a fantastic range of activities, workshops and crafts including Felt Making and Body-scapes happening every day until January 7 for FREE. So if you’re feeling the pinch post-Christmas, you can continue the festivities with ease. You can also join The Deep on Tuesday mornings throughout January for their Little Nippers event, fun-filled discovery and play sessions for children aged 2 and under.
Other days out to consider this January include the Royal Armouries Museum’s action-packed Martial Arts Weekend – Insights: East Meets West, where experts will be demonstrating traditional and historical techniques from around the world. Thornton Hall Country Park re-opens on 8th January for wintry hands-on animal encounters as well as indoor and outdoor entertainment. You can Xscape the cold and eat, play and shop in one location this January, as Xscape is bursting with all your favourite pastimes. Or take a trip around Yorkshire Sculpture Park for their immersive Come Rain, Come Shine event.
Fantastic family days out don’t stop there as this February there are even more great events taking place. Diggerland reopens for their 2018 season on 10 February. JORVIK Viking Festival will be returning in February Half Term, the largest event of its kind in Europe, commemorating the arrival and conquest of England by the Great Viking Army. At Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, fans can meet and chat to Paddington who will be at Oxenhope Exhibition Shed on 14th & 15th February. Magna Mayhem, Yorkshire’s largest and best indoor inflatable adventure zone returns to Magna Science Adventure Centre for adventurers to bounce, boing and jump the Half Term away. These events are just a taster for what the year has to come.
