Spud-tastic weekend at Williams Den

Our Yorkshire Attractions have lots of arty activities taking place this September for your budding artists to explore their creativity. Join The Deep on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September as they welcome Lisa Brown, illustrator of children’s book ‘Marti the Hammerhead Shark’ by Galapagos Conservation Trust to help your little ones draw the characters from the book and learn why animals migrate. Or, head to William’s Den on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September for a Spud-tastic Weekend. There’s sure to be lots of potato related crafts and play, including a potato stamping activity and a potato throwing challenge!

Monarch's Weekend at Royal Armouries

This September, lots of our Yorkshire Attractions are celebrating their fascinating local and national heritage. From Friday 13th September, JORVIK Viking Centre will host The Viking, a replica of the Gokstad which sailed across the Atlantic from Norway to Chicago in 1893. This incredible artefact has resided in Chicago ever since, hear its story, from construction to present day. Royal Armouries Museum’s fascinating Monarch Weekends event series will conclude on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September with Ranjit Singh, The Lion of Punjab. Head back to 1838, as you explore the life and times of this remarkable ruler with live costume characters, live authentic combat demonstrations, talks, tours and more!

Digging Deep at NCMME
Bronte Parsonage Museum

Join National Coal Mining Museum of England, from Saturday 21st September as they uncover the stories of African Caribbean coal miners whose industrial past has been left untold. Their exhibition, Digging Deep: Miners of African Caribbean Heritage explores black miners’ migration memories adjusting to life in the UK; finding work in the collieries and their legacy and life after mining. Why not join Brontë Parsonage Museum for their Festival of Women’s Writing between Friday 20th and Sunday 22nd September. As Charlotte, Emily and Anne Brontë were pioneering women writers, continuing to inspire contemporary literature, the festival will showcase women’s writing, welcoming a packed line up of writers and readers alike.

Story Weekend at Eureka!
Princess Weekend at Cannon Hall Farm

The storytelling continues at Eureka! The National Children’s Museum on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd September as your little ones are invited to meet some of their favourite characters from classic stories and join an interactive storytelling session with a difference during their Story Weekend. Head to Cannon Hall Farm for a Princess Party like no other on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd September. Fancy dress is actively encouraged, so make sure your little ones don their best tiara as they get up close and personal with four princess to take part a series of fun challenges and party games.
